Day 86: mid-production

Purse making can mean longer hours, but I'll say that the end result or even the anticipation of the end result makes it sooo worth the trouble. I don't know many things that make me as excited as sitting at my sewing table and making something pretty!

I just spent an hour trying to make pockets for my clutch that I'm making right now and it took a while but I finished and put my label on it (yes, I have labels!!!) and I'm so psyched to finish!!! I just wish I had more free time!!!

Day 85: Dhoonya crazy...

Had a Dhoonya event in the Jamaica Arts Center where we helped with a banghra demo with our teacher Priya. It's interesting to see that people think we dance well! hahah Never have I ever been called into a group to dance. It was fun! That's like, 4 extra hours of Bollywood dancing on top of my usual 3.5 to 4 hours per week! Yeah!!!

**sidenote: Me loves fake eyelashes sometimes!!! Thank goodness for pin up school training, or else I would never have learned how to put them on properly! :) (don't think you can really tell here! lol)

Day 84: reminders...

These sidewalk signs are everywhere in my neighborhood in memory of all the people who lived around here and died in the triangle factory fire 100 years ago. Biggest workplace catastrophe (not counting 9-11). I'm glad people don't forget this stuff, even 100 years later...

Day 81: road side assistance needed

I drove to work by myself for the very first time today. I always drive home but never to work and since Rich always goes through the highway and I always used to sleep in the backseat when Brandon was here, I actually don't know the way to the office. I thought I could wing it, but I got lost and stayed the course when I should have veered left. So there I was, somewhere in Brooklyn, and didn't know how to properly work the navigation system. I got it to *kind of* work at some point and not only ended up on the Van Wyck, but also at some point turned onto the wrong side of the road to get to the conduit because I thought it was a one way street until I saw a truck coming at me. (Thankfully very slowly)

You know the movie Clueless? Where Dionne is driving and accidentally ends up on the freeway and freaks out? Yep, that was me today. Lol

Day 78: Holi moley!

I went to my first Holi celebration today! For anyone who doesn't know, Holi is an Indian festival to celebrate the coming of spring. It's a festival of colors. NYC's celebration, Rang Barse, was held on a boat museum (the Pejibg) at south street seaport where we all got on board and threw crap tons of colored powdered at each other! It was sooo much fun!

I also performed a number with my bollywood dance class, Dhoonya Dance, but no pics of that. Lol




It was such fun with the dancing and the colors! I loved it!!

Day 77: return to Ming's

There is this little Chinese restaurant called Ming's Caffe down my block on the corner that I always used to go to all the time. Even just to have a bubble tea. It got to the point where the dude always knew i ordered bubble tea and if we (me and my old roommate) forgot to pay,he'd just remind us the next time. Lol

I stopped going on a regular basis, but every beginning of spring, I mark the slow move into warmer weather by going back and having a bubble tea at their place. And I love that he still knows that I'm always going to have a bubble tea. :)

While I love donuts and the ones from doughnut plant are very delicious, I almost never go there because not only would my ass be infinitely more massive if I did, but there is always a line out the door...except at 630 in the morning! :) so it was a doughnut plant kind of morning! :)
